The G4000 video Digital Signal Processor (VDSP) is the first member of the family of highly integrated System-On-Chip Processors. It targets the emerging markets of still or moving image related products such as digital entertainment systems, digital editing systems, digital video security systems, digital video conferencing systems, automotive safety systems, medical imaging systems, and office automation systems. G4000 is compact yet flexible enough to be used with minimum supporting chips to build complete, powerful and low-powered products targeting different markets.

• SIMD (Single Instruction Multi Data) Architecture, 512-bit programmable SIMD processor with 1152 of 16-bit general-purpose registers and 64 of 32-bit Accumulators. The SIMD processor can compute 32 of 16x16 signed MAC operations in one clock
• Single instruction stream controlling both Scalar Processor and SIMD Processor that tremendously facilitate software debugging
• Eight advanced 8-point Motion Estimation oprocessor provides 44,800 RISC, MIPS of Motion Estimation for MPEG-1 / MPEG-2 / MPEG-4 video compression
• Instruction Cache, Write-back Data Cache and numerous register files
• Multi-bank interleaved Instruction Cache and Data Cache
• Glueless High-Speed 32-bit SDRAM interface, Integrated efficient Memory Controller providing large data bandwidth necessary for processing images
